Post Wakeskate thickness? Reply with quote
I am looking for the overall thickness of most DIY wakeskates. 5/8", 3/4", ?

I keep seeing ply counts and things like that but not an overall thickness.

Thanks man, I was starting to think I smelt bad or something. Haven't been getting much reply action to my posts yet.....but I'm still wading my way through the forum. Great job guys, especially you regular contributors, y'all are making my learning curve much easier just by reading past posts and builds.

I joined a little while a go too and was welcomed into the winching gang in a very nice way! Thanks! Back to the wakeskate. I made one and it is about 5/8 thick and works great. Try to use the thinnest ply's you can find and stack them with a very tight and sticky "bead" of epoxy. after completely bent and all seal it with some Thomas sealer (http://www.thompsonswaterseal.com/products/product_detail.cfm?prod_id=3)

I would suggest using about 2-5 coats to give it a nice professional look. But if you want some designs on the button do those before you seal. With the stencils or designs i would use a outdoor enamel. ( It can chip but i hit rails all day long and you really need to give it a good gash to chip the enamel! GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the advice man, I am actually gonna start a board this weekend. I started the jig last night and I will finish it tonight. I am definitely gonna do graphics, possibly a logo as my wife is a graphic designer I am just gonna make it as legit looking as possible.
